About Me:Hello my name is Anastassia Puttnam and I am one of the writers for kings news.I am always smiling and tremendously determined to do anything that is thrown at me. Furthermore people describe me as a quirky character with whacky ideas...that's why I now write these stories. However when I grow up I have always really wanted to be a doctor/heart surgeon, so thats my aim :)

The coin.

The coin.

Children stopped playing, the parents stopped laughing and the dogs began to bark. A whirl of dark, stormy clouds danced around the edge of the park. Without warning, large drops of icy liquid plummeted to the floor. Children ran for cover whilst the adults frantically gathered their blankets and leftover food to try and run to the nearest tree for shelter.

The sun showed no sign of appearing, meaning that the sensible family made their way home. However one father and son decided to stay around for a while and stroll around in the rain. The rain grew heavier and the sun got brighter. The heat started to become more prominent, as droplets of sweat and a mixture of rain slid down to the tip of their noses.

The young boy dived onto the floor in attempt catch a butterfly in his warm hands. However, a distracting circular piece of metal caught his eye. Remaining on the floor, he reached forward and raised the coin in front of his eyes. Rust and dirt remained on the boys fingers and he caustically handed the coin to his father.

It appeared to have been indented with two figures. The father held up the coin and scanned it with his eyes, looking out for any famous marks imprinted into the metal.

With no hesitation, the pair sprinted to the closest antique shop and tossed the coin onto the counter. Both of them slowly bounced from one foot to the other, in suspense of what the coin could be worth.

The owner simply pushed the coins to the tip of his nose and stared at them. Ten seconds later he sneered and a glint of his gold tooth was visible. Then he slapped the coin to the table and pointed to the door.

The boy's father led on first with his head hung low, and the young boy followed, scuffing his feet along the floor as they left.
