About Me:Hello my name is Anastassia Puttnam and I am one of the writers for kings news.I am always smiling and tremendously determined to do anything that is thrown at me. Furthermore people describe me as a quirky character with whacky ideas...that's why I now write these stories. However when I grow up I have always really wanted to be a doctor/heart surgeon, so thats my aim :)

The Chase

The Chase

The trees stood to attention, whilst a ribbon of clouds meandered through their hair. A soft whistle gave the forest an eerie characteristic and the gentle rustle of the leaves threw a chill down the boy's back. He continued to trek deeper into the forest, ignoring the large red letters that were slapped onto a wooden board. The words 'Beware' echoed through his head whilst the chill in his back began to ignite his body. Thoughts about his home life trickled through his brain. He pondered on whether running away was the right thing to do.

Meanwhile, in a remote area, there was an old lady with deep wrinkles imprinted into her face. She paced her tiny cottage from one side of the room to the other, whilst her walking stick thudded onto the floor in a steady rhythm. She knew that the boy had gone missing, but she didnt know how long she has been gone for. 'A fox might have got him!' she mumbled under her breath. All of the pressure had suddenly gotten too much. The comforting rhythm of the stick stopped, and gravity pulled the lady to the floor.

He cautiously approached the tree that he had engraved his name in when he was younger, and began to trace his icy fingers around the indentation. When, without warning, he heard a subtle rustling in the bushes. Urging closer,he peered around the neighbouring tree. But before he could scan the area for any threats, an unusual creature came out from around the tree. It had long matted hair and large sapphire eyes. It eyes locked onto the boy and began to chase after him.

His heart pounded as he sprinted over the sodden leaves and collapsed trees. Gathering speed he attempted to climb a tree, but the monster grabbed his ankles and pulled the boy towards him. The creatures teeth almost melted into his flesh and tore out a square of skin. The blood dripped onto the floor, creating a pool of rich red purée around his lifeless body. His heart pounded no more.
